About me
how I work
How are you? That's a question that gets asked a lot but it's often more of a statement, a greeting than an actual question. Most people don't even stop for the response and if they do they're often too busy thinking about what they want to say, rather than listening to what's being said.
It's no wonder then that we often stop asking ourselves that question too.

Life has taken me down many different paths, but the common theme has always been listening. I learnt early on how stopping and really listening to the answer could make the difference between another bad day and a better one.
How listening is about caring and being cared for helps people to feel valued.

If you're ready to stop and answer that question, then I'm here to listen and to hear what you have to say.
Even if right now, you don't have the words or you just don't know what to say... we can start with the question and go from there.

I'm a qualified therapeutic counsellor, coach, NLP practitioner and facilitator who uses a compassion based approach, drawing on various humanistic theories to support clients to find their own way. I have worked for many years in educational and therapeutic settings and can offer counselling, coaching and group work options to anyone above the age of 16.

I understand how your mental health can impact on your physical health and so my approach is holistic to support your wellbeing, not just now, but to equip you with tools to protect it for the future. My experience working for agencies and charities that offer holistic approaches means that I have seen the benefit of not just offering talking therapy but being open to working creatively too. I have seen the impact that struggling with trauma has not just on the mind but also the body. When we work together I will support you to re establish the lines of communication between your head and your heart and support you to find your own way to experience your life with more compassion for yourself. I will work with you to understand how you experience the world, what supports you and what challenges you, drawing not just on your mind's insights but also the wisdom of your body too. We will look at the ways you can support your mental health and promote positive coping strategies to maintain your wellbeing.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and follow their ethical framework to ensure that the work we do together is safe for us both. More information on this can be found on the BACP website.
I have worked for many years in various roles in mental health and wellbeing for charities and organisations. Read on to find out how counselling, coaching or one of my other services can support you with where you are at in your life right now.
